- Land values for land in Current Use are based
on what the income the land is capable of producing; this reduces
the assessment, and the property taxes, to levels that are affordable
by even those with modest incomes.
- Incentives for managing forestland, referred
to as "documented stewardship", recognize the costs
involved with management, and reduce the property assessment
further. (See FAQ/Forestland Assessment/Stewardship)
- Landowners who allow public use of their open
space land for hunting, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing
and nature observation can apply for and receive an additional
20% off their current use assessment. (See FAQ/Recreational Discount)
